In a couple of days it'll be the end of July and there goes another month. I get very nostalgic when I think about how my big plans for the summer have all been carried out already and all the time and anticipation beforehand feels like another lifetime ago. Gets me feeling all emotional-y and human-y. Blech. Somehow I haven't fully gotten into couch potato mode where all I really need is my TV. And my remote control(s).I spent the better part of my day roaming aimlessly in a very quiet and empty Subang Parade, most of which was spent in MPH (trying to find decent, page-turnable reading material) and Speedy (ogling the many TVB dramas I
want need want to buy but shouldn't because I have so many I haven't watched yet!). I did buy Taylor Swift's Fearless album because the Malaysian Edition is out which means the price is slashed by at least half (yay!) Oh sue me but I find it significantly harder to fork out money for a CD than for a drama box set OK! No regrets buying her album though, slashed price or not, because it's good stuff. After listening to it a couple of times I feel more and more like her lyrics - idealistic and hopelessly romantic. Sigh.I went on a bit of celebrity Twitter frenzy just now finding for real celebrity-verified Twitter pages. I think it's kinda cool and brings them lower down to earth, like hey Oprah is (kinda) talking to us and hey Miley Cyrus is (kinda) just like us. Awesome :)
As you can see by the more frequent blog posts/Twitter updates that I am online more often nowadays. By NO means does this mean that I am lifeless without you Australian people - it's pretty lifeless to spend 5 straight days in Pyramid with the same people too ok! Haha. My point is, we finally installed a router which means I can go online anytime anywhere in the house and I feel so powerful that it's getting to my head mwahahaha ok.Been semi-following The Little Nyonya on AEC (Channel 301). I don't really want to follow it because I know it's going to be a lot of unfairness and torturing and plain cruelty and that will just get me all riled up yet incapable of doing anything because, well, it's just a show right. But the 1/4 nyonya in me is curious as to how the peranakan lived their lives back then. Then again if the matriarchy was really so horrible, perhaps the less I know the better!
Actually I recently found out that I may not even have any peranakan blood - instead, I'm a Manchu Chinese!
Speaking of decent reading material (not that I'd know since I haven't started reading it yet) I picked up Honk! If You're Malaysian today. Aiya Merdeka month coming ma time to fully unleash the not-so-inner Malaysian in all of us la ;)
On a sadder but equally Malaysian note, Yasmin Ahmad passed away on July 25th, 2009. I'd be a huge fake if I said I was a big fan but you'd be an even bigger fake if you said you weren't touched by at least one of her Petronas ads. It has been happening a lot these past few months, this Death thing. For all my 20 years of living and education, sometimes I just don't understand why people have to die.
